It’s the Holiday Season!

Despite what all the Gym-fluencers will tell you, it’s actually OK to miss a workout and spend time with friends and family during the holidays. It’s OK to stop counting your macros and protein targets and be flexible with yourself. Life is about balance, and discovering what is truly important to us. If hitting your training goals is important, then GO FOR IT! If spending extra time with your family and kids is more important, set your training goals aside for a few hours or a few days and enjoy the holidays GUILT FREE!
However, you can still incorporate MOVEMENT and alternative forms of training during the holidays. That might include going on a family walk, a hike, sledding, or showing off your Garage Gym and working out with family and friends.
Another great option is participating in the #24MiniGGC Mini Garage Gym Competition happening NOW until the end of the year. You can literally submit anything that you think is a challenge to yourself. I will be doing 100 pushups and 50 pull-ups and see how long it takes me to do it! I will be performing my challenge SUNDAY at 10:00 AM MST and I would LOVE for you to join in the fun and do your own challenge at that time too!

At the end of the day, find ways to move your body, add protein and fiber, drink water, and get more sleep.

INTRIGUING SUPPLEMENTS
MAGNESIUM
I have been pleasantly surprised by both my quick dive into the literature as well as personal experience using Magnesium recently. Here are some of my recommendations:
Mag R&R
I’ve been using this product for the past few months mostly after intense workouts, skiing, long hikes, etc. I purchased it initially due to its claims for preventing muscle cramps and promoting sleep without overdosing the ingredients. The recommended dose is 3 capsules, but I usually only use 1 capsule and still get a similar benefit. I used to get “Charlie Horse” cramps at night after intense training sessions, but haven’t had a single one since I started using this product! I love the combination of high quality Magnesium and low dose Melatonin for nighttime use, as well as some other quality ingredients.
Herbpy Magnesium Complex
I just purchased this product for daytime use without the Melatonin. I bought this product specifically due to the ingredient blend including Magnesium, L-Theanine, Ashwaganda, and Vitamin D. I’m excited to give it a try. In addition, this is one of the few products with APPROPRIATELY DOSED Vitamin D at 600 IU whereas most Vitamin D supplements are well overdosed in the 1,000-2,000 IU range. I’ll give this a whirl for a few weeks and see how it goes.
