If you’ve followed along with my fitness journey, you know that I’ve switched to Barefoot Shoes for everything—pickleball, gym, hiking, casual wear, and at work.

I am a big believer that our feet are the foundation for everything we do. Most shoes now opt for style and short-term comfort, which can take away from our body’s natural movement. Both from a medical perspective and personal experience, I’ve found that the wide toe box and zero drop heel that a barefoot shoe provides helps build a strong, grounded foundation, which allows for more functional movement throughout my day. I have less foot pain and less joint soreness to the point where I can’t go back to my traditional name brand sneakers.

Luckily, as a pediatrician, I can get away with wearing casual shoes to work, and there are plenty of barefoot shoe options for that. But when I needed to dress up, I was stuck between uncomfortable, traditional dress shoes, or semi-formal barefoot shoe options from brands such as WHITIN.

That’s why I was genuinely excited when Xero Shoes released the Glenn Dress Shoe, and even more excited when they offered to send me a pair to try. And, as always, I try to provide honest feedback on products I use or would actually choose in my day-to-day, and Xero Shoes once again fits that standard for me.

First Impressions

The Xero Glenn is a good-looking dress shoe! As expected, it has a wide toe box, zero drop heel, and the fit was comfortable right out of the box. I wish I had both black and brown options, but I opted for black. The sole feels a lot like the Xero Prio Shoes. The I wore them for an entire day at work and barely even noticed they were on! When I got home, I did some projects around the house and forgot I was still wearing dress shoes!

Final Verdict

Overall, the Xero Glenn shoe fills the barefoot dress shoe gap that’s honestly hard to find. It’s not going to be for everyone, especially if you’re newer to barefoot shoes, but in the right setting, it works really well. For me, it’s become an easy choice for clinic and anything that requires a more professional look.
